It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Russell Ortego of Dequincy, Louisiana, born in Washington, Louisiana, who passed away on June 8, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Carton Ortego and Josephine Guidry Ortego; his brother Joseph Carlton; his daughter-in-law Paula Ortego; and his great grandchild William Wayne Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Donnie Sue Yellott Ortego; his children, Joseph Edwin Ortego (Eddie) of DeQuincy Louisiana, Tammy Smith (Bishop Kenneth Smith) of Tarkington Texas and Tina Bowman (Joseph Bowman) of Singer Louisiana; his brother Roland James Ortego of Carencro, Louisiana; and his grandchildren, April Hamilton (Tomas), Dustin Ortego (Autumn), Colton Ortego, Hannah Adkins (Braedyn), Jeffery Paris, Rev. Kenny Smith (Beth) and Josey Holley. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
