He was predeceased by: his former wife Rena Alston; his wife Birdie Alston; his daughter-in-law Karen Alston; and his siblings, John Alston, Linny Alston, Jean Myers and Mae Benham.

He is survived by: his son Randy Alston; his granddaughters, Anna Alston and Sarah Orms (Trent Orms); and his sister Ruby Bingham. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
