He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Phillips and Irene Templet Phillips; his grandson Charles Taylor, III; his grandson-in-law Travis "Bowie" Andrepont; and his grandmother Lily Phillips.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Templet; his children, Laben Templet, Jr. (Kristie Doucet), Tim Templet and Sharon Templet (Shane Parker); his grandchildren, Paiton Mire (Nate), Jaydan Templet, Maddi Harrison, Rayleigh Templet, Tristin Templet, Camron Taylor (Laiken) and Chandler Taylor; his sister Judy Powell (James); and his pet Bandit. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
