He was predeceased by: his wife Ida Mae Simmons; his parents, Henry Dalvin Simmons and Lena Hollie Simmons; his siblings, Elsie Villamez, T. L. Simmons, Dalvin Simmons, Lloyd Simmons and H. B. Simmons; and his half-sister Norma Jean Grimes.
He is survived by: his children, Benjamin Lee Simmons (Bobbye) and Elizabeth McLeod of DeQuincy; his grandchildren, Angie Pearce (Craig), William Paul Williams (Belinda), Travis Simmons (Lesley), Shonda Simmons, Penny Mitchell (Brian) and Benny Dyer (Shawn); his brother Lee R. Simmons of Tennessee; and his half-brother Odis Hoosier (Diane) of Vidor, Texas.. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
