He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Allen Fowler and Lottie Whitaker; and his brothers, J. C. Fowler and Howard Fowler. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Fowler; and his children, Mary Cunningham (Kevin), Maria Ravia (Phillip), Meloney Woolford (James) and Melissa Metcalf (Terry). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
