She was predeceased by: her husband Weyman Salter; her sister Rhonda Taylor; and her mother Barbara Lee. She is survived by: her father Jaime Taylor; her daughters, Nicole Broussard, Candice Dias and Tabitha Taylor; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Bella, Donovan, Ana and Preston; her great grandchild Lazell; and her brother Keith Taylor.

The family also requests donations be made in Rita's name to ASPCA in lieu of flowers.
