He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena Milam and Jim Ruth Gilbert; and his siblings, Travis Gilbert and Nancy Tortorich. He is survived by: his wife Marian Garnett Gilbert; his sons, Jim "Jimmy" Gilbert (Bridgette) and Joseph "Joey" Gilbert (Allison); his grandchildren, Chantz Gilbert (Logan), Dylan Gilbert (Rachel), Austin Gilbert (Sadye), Victoria, Anthony Snead Jr. (Joanna) and Alexandria Snead; his great grandchildren, Jake, Sawyer, Wren Gilbert and Izabela Snead; and his siblings, Elizabeth Stoney, Edith Harding (Larry), Billy Gilbert, Tommy Gilbert, Buryl Gilbert (Mary) and John Baldwin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his home church, First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs.
