He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Shoemaker; his parents, Joseph Bilbo and Myrtis Smith Shoemaker; and his brothers, Allen, Vernon, Russell and Johnny "Buster".
He is survived by: his sons, Johnny Earl Shoemaker, Sr. and Randy Joe Shoemaker; his grandchildren, Johnny Earl Shoemaker, Jr., Andrew Shoemaker, Philip Matthews and Nathanael Shoemaker; and his siblings, Jimmy Shoemaker, Wendell Shoemaker and Mickey Nicholson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
