He was predeceased by: his wife Violet Istre; his son Richard Rung; and his brother William Istre, III. He is survived by: his children, Alexis, Tammy Boule of Eunice, Jeffery of Eunice and Bryce Royer of Lafayette; his parents, William Istre, Jr. and Betty Istre of Morse; his siblings, John Curtis (Vanessa Istre) of Morse, Robert Wayne Istre (Lisa Crochet) of Crowley, Betty Joe (Wynn Rung, Jr.) of Church Point, Cynthia (Russell Romero) of Morse, Amelia Istre of Crowley and Priscilla (Mike Istre, Sr.) of Egan; and his goddaughter April Lynn Rung of Maurice. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Duhon Funeral Home - Crowley (1529 Crowley Rayne Hwy, Crowley, LA 70526). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
