He is survived by: his children, Preston J. Dejean, III (Tikesha) of Virginia Beach, VA, Samuel D. Dejean (Ann) of Crowley, LA, Bryan S. Dejean (Orita) of Crowley, LA, Truman Hayes (Teisha) of Lake Charles, LA, Prestly Hayes (Dalton) of Crowley, LA and Jana Broussard of New Iberia, LA.

“What a reunion! He couldn’t wait to see Rose Dejean again. I can still here that booming voice saying “Dale, Bryan, Conny”. To them he gave the trade of Plumbing, then he sent me and his oldest son Preston to USL and Law School. Every trip to the kitchen at 215 W.7th street he would tell me the DeJean family history. So many good memories from Crowleys first black City Inspector. His grandparents, Papa Red, Ma ma Clara, the twins, Yan & Shirley….what a reunion. Cherish the memories, Bridgett”
