He was predeceased by: his parents, Coray "Chin" Richard and Edmae Duhon; his brother Douglas Richard; and his great grandchild C. J. Richard. He is survived by: his wife Betty L. Richard of LeLeux; his children, Tommy Richard, Scott (Jackie Richard), Patrick (Stephanie Richard) of Leleux, Charlene (Larry Hebert) of Crowley, Sharon (Sherman Smith, Jr.) of Crowley and Kim (Rene Boudreaux) of Leleux; his sister Edvia Hulin of Mowata; and his grandson Brady Richard. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.
