He was predeceased by: his wife Pauline Morgan Smith; his sons, Ovis Dean Smith and Gary Lynn Smith; his parents, John Edward Smith and Margie Mary Hinton Smith; and his siblings, Curtis Smith (Penelope), John Hugh Smith, Jennette Smith Moore (Raymond) and Patsy Ruth Smith Skiles.

He is survived by: his children, Paul David Wilson (Molly), Kenneth Hugh Smith (Sharon), Bryan Keith Smith (Kim) and Tammy Sue Garrett (Daren); and his sibling Gerald Wayne Smith (Brenda). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
