She was predeceased by: her parents, Merrill Wendel and Edith Wendel; and her former husband Glen W. Reine. She is survived by: her husband Donald C. Bertus; her children, Kimberly Reine, Elizabeth Reine (Chris), Kirk Bertus (Brooke) and Scott Bertus; her grandchildren, Katie Horsley, William Horsley, Sadie Reine, Sophie Bilbo, Sarah Bertus, Seth Bertus and Sam Bertus (Maria); and her brother Stephen Wendel. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
A resident of Slidell, Brenda was the Executive Director of the Slidell Chamber of Commerce, and CEO of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation for over fifteen years, from which she retired.
