Andrew Jackson Bowden III Obituary
Andrew Jackson Bowden, III, 71, took his trip to meet the Lord on April 12, 2023, surrounded by family at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington, LA, following a lengthy illness. Andy was born in Tallulah, LA on August 16, 1951 to parents, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Bowden, II and Betty Russell Bowden. He was a retired State Farm Insurance Agent.
Andy had a zest for life like none other. He was a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger. Thankfully, he has a brand new audience to regale with his wild and crazy stories. Hallelujah! If there is actual speech in heaven it’s safe to say he has not stopped talking since his arrival. He loved to tell how he and his buddies built a “camp” out of stolen gubernatorial signs during an election year, or sleep jogging in his skivvies. Both true. If Andy wasn’t telling his life’s stories, which were many, he was telling one of the hundreds of jokes in his repertoire and laughing harder and louder than his listeners. He liked to call himself Andy Dance and fancied himself the world’s greatest fisherman. According to him, the white perch and catfish in Lake Bruin feared him. Oh, how he loved Lake Bruin. It was his happy place. The only things Andy loved more than Lake Bruin were his children. Andy was an avid LSU sports fan, he loved dove hunting, golfing, woodworking, cooking, and instructing everyone and anyone on the correct way to do anything!
Andy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Martha (Dupree), daughter Stephanie Johnson (Chad), sons, Andrew J. Bowden, IV “Drew,” (Elizabeth), and Todd Russell Bowden (Rachel), bonus sons Jason Riley, Randy Pierce (Celeste) and Steve Pierce (Tammy), sister Sonya Williams (Doug), granddaughters Vivian Bowden and Eliza Johnson, all of whom will miss him dearly. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jackie Bowden.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM with visitation on Monday beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Theodore Dendinger Cemetery.
