He is survived by: his parents, Sandra Ates (Tommy) and Edward Ates, Jr. (Alicia); his sisters, Chelsea Giddings (James) and Judy Ates; his niece Lesley Taylor; his grandmothers, Barbara Slaughter and Ann Ates; and his aunts and uncles, Chastity Ates, Rachel Ates, Heather Rodgers (Chad), Misty Slaughter, Donna Ates, Gloria Ates, Jonathan Ates and Calvin "C. W." Ates (Alice).
