He is survived by: his daughter Ethel James; his stepchildren, Dwen Smoot, Tina Smoot, Earnest Kent Jenkins (Evelyn) and William "Tommy" Smoot; and his siblings, Georgia Washington, Edna Washington, Maude Ella Washington, Marissa Washington Wells, Mildred Butler, Mazie Virginia Washington and James Ray Washington. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
