He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. and Lelia Johnson Cooper, Sr.; his grandparents, Harry, Ethel Ortego Cooper, Marcelin and Engelle Boudreaux Johnson; his uncles, Paul Marvin Cooper, Sr., Leroy Johnson, Wallace Johnson, Earnest "Buddy" McElwee and Marvin Keel; his aunt Sharon Cooper Gauthier; and his cousin Michael Cooper, Sr..
He is survived by: his aunts and uncles, Curry "Mike" Cooper, Clyde Cooper, Sr., Joyce J. Cooper, Mary Dean Turner of Cottonport and Ethel McElwee of Vidalia, LA.; and his stepbrothers, Roy Perron and James Perron of Ozawkie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and two godchildren.
