It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmarie Prater of Cottonport, Louisiana, who passed away on January 17, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Malcolm E. Prater, Sr.; her parents, Milton and Isaqeena of Washington; her son Gerald Prater; and her siblings, Milton of Washington, Edward of Washington, Arthur of Washington, Vergie Murray and Henrietta Augustine.
She is survived by: her children, Betty Prater (Jimmy), Gloria Thomas, Margaret Benjamin, Shirley Williams (Jefferson), Peggy Eldridge (Melvin), Susan Prater, Brenda Prater (Donald), Ethel Hayes (Ricky), Christie Bazert (Bert), Maxine Prater, Linda Prater, Malcolm Prater, Jr. (Diana), Larry Prater, Robert Prater (Cassandra) and Christopher Prater; her siblings, Georgia of Washington, Mildred Butler, Mazie of Washington, Edna of Washington, Marissa Wells, Maude of Washington, Milbert of Washington and James Ray of Washington; and her siblings-in-law, Florence Compton and Jimmy Prater.
