He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Burkett and Margueritte Morgan Burkett; his wife Sharon Whitaker Crites Burkett; his son Harold "Harry" Burkett; and his sisters, Bessie Wood and Shirley Stoker.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Burkett and Mary M. Ebarb (Allen); his daughter-in-law Sandi Burkett; and his stepchildren, James Crites (Kathryn) and Jennifer Crites (Brandy). He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
