It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sims Lavelle Rice (Columbia, Louisiana), born in Winnsboro, Louisiana, who passed away on January 29, 2019, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry L. Rice and Myra Henderson Rice; his former wife Faye Thompson Rice; and his sisters, Essie White, Lavern Cassels, Elouise Mayo and Etta Loyce Eubanks.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Barnette Rice of Columbia; his daughter Tammie R. Moses (Johnny); his granddaughter Kassi Rice of Denham Springs, LA; his stepchildren, Pam McGuire (Charles) of Columbia, Sherry Varner (Marty) of Columbia, Sharon Richmond (Tim) of Grayson, Susan Duplissey (Rick) of Sterlington, Cindy Ballard of Columbia and Randy Barnette (Robin) of Columbia; and his siblings, Eugene Rice of Hebert, Donald Rice (Mary) of Livingston, LA, Wachel Rice (Cookie) of Shreveport, Nathan Rice (Betty) of Monroe, Herman Rice (Sissy) of West Monroe, Jessie V. Massey and Wanda Cox (Larry) of Monroe. He is also survived by four grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
