She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie I. Mitchell and Marion Lorene Mitchell; her grandparents, Samuel, Emily Mitchell, Marvin and Ruby Herlong; her husband John Henry Peoples; her brothers, Irby Joe Mitchell, Gary Dale Mitchell and Jessie Ray Mitchell; and her son Baby Boy Thaxton.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Joseph Varnell and Isabella Norton; and her children, Michael E. Norton (Chris Norton) of Columbia, Gerald E. Norton (Lizabeth A. Norton) of Grayson, John E, Sheila L. Stephens (John E. Stephens) of Deville, LA, Jessica L. Keeble (Michael Keeble) of Monroe and Thomas E. Thaxton, Jr. of Grayson, LA. She is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren, and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
