He was predeceased by: his wife Bertie S. Gorton; his parents, Mable Gorton and Lee Gorton; and his sisters, Clara Evens Owens and Juanita Young.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Nell Gorton of West Monroe, Johnnie Raye Carson (Scott) of West Monroe and Rhonda Deseamus (Marty) of West Monroe; his grandchildren, Martin Deseamus, Doug Deseamus, Britney Brodnax, Cody Russell, Tyler Ford, Hunter Ford, Kali Chase and Ginger Roberts; and his sister Fay G. Bulloch. He is also survived by eleven Great Grandchildren.
