It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clydie Lucille Coates of Columbia, Louisiana, born in Orange, Texas, who passed away on July 17, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vannoy Clyde Jones and Adeline Melissa Sutton; her husband Norman D. Coates, Sr.; her son Norman D. Coates, Jr.; and her brother Kenneth Rollins.
She is survived by: her children, Ronnie Coates (Bonnie) and Suzanne Allen of New Iberia; her sister Evelyn Dixon of Halletsville, Texas; her close friends, Rachel Denison and Jerry Hall; her grandchildren, Alexis McClain, Christian Holmes, Jessica Nolan, Aleigh Coates, Brianna Phillips, Dacey Nolan and Zach Canterberry; and her pet Freddie Mercury. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Columbia building fund.
