He was predeceased by: his parent Yvonne Clark Fontenot (Fontenot); his stepfather C. T. Fontenot; his brother Clarence Fontenot; and his grandparents, Harland Clark and Mary Maloch Clark.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Francis Fontenot (Fontenot); his children, Lisa Fontenot Lynch and Craig Fontenot (Erin); his grandchildren, Aidan Fontenot, Tucker Lynch and Riley Fontenot; his siblings, Mary Alice Fontenot Wood, Don Fontenot and Paul Fontenot; and his aunt Shirley Clark Chilton.
