He was predeceased by: his former wife Betty; his parents, Isadore Dowden and Nancy Legg Dowden; and his siblings, J. B. Dowden, Glen Dowden, Gilbert Dowden, Ray Dowden and Elouise Dowden of Leesville.
He is survived by: his children, Lewis Matthew Dowden (Donna), Allison Dowden Karamales (Charles) and Tracy Llyn Dowden LeBlanc (Timothy); and his sister Helen Dowden Blair. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
