He is survived by: his mother Frankie Glasscock of Opelousas, LA; his sons, Brett Bates of Lafayette and Gabe Bates of New Iberia, LA; his siblings, Robert "Bob" Bates of Oregon, Steven Bates (Lynn) of New Iberia and Martha Annette Bates Bantin of Opelousas; and his grandchildren, Magnolia Mae Bates and Hammond "Hammy" George Bates. He is also survived by his extended family and friends.
