He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Leon "Yonnie" Melancon (Colleen) of Iota, Judy Simon (Douglas) of Rayne and Carla Mountney (Paul) of Mire; his siblings, Milton Melancon of Crowley, Eva Duplechain of DeRidder, Nora Miller (Earlin) of Lafayette, Margie Duplechain (Wesley) of Ragley and Fannie Miguez (Wallace) of Alexandria; his pet Mignon; his wife Lula Marie LeBoeuf Melancon; his parents, Ovey Melancon and Irma Thibodeaux Melancon; his son John Terry Melancon; and his siblings, Roy Melancon, Ruby Thibodeaux, Emma Higginbotham and Nola Harmon. He was also cherished by six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
