With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mattie H. Stanford (Church Point, Louisiana), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Higginbotham and Beatrice Barousse; her husband Norman Stanford; her son-in-law Troy Fontenot; and her siblings, Esther Daigle, Wilda Whitaker, Ward, William, Wilson, Hamiel and Carl Higginbotham.

She is survived by: her children, Stephanie James of Humble, TX, Christine Benoit (Paul) of Church Point, LA, Jessica Thibodeaux (Mike) of Church Point, LA, Suzanne Stanford of Sunset, LA, Bridget Fontenot of Bunkie, LA, Daniel Stanford (Belinda) of Sunset, LA and Derril Stanford (Tess) of Church Point, LA; and her siblings, Clara Leblanc (Larry) of Rayne, LA and Robert Higginbotham (Evelyn) of Lafayette, LA.. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Guidry Funeral Home (219 N Broadway St, Church Point, LA 70525). A rosary was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (114 Bienvenu St, Church Point, LA 70525). A committal service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Bellevue Cemetery.
