He was predeceased by: his wife Lauris Martinez Matte; his parents, Olivier Matte and Elena Comeaux Matte; and his siblings, Gervais "Jack" Matte, Evans "China" Matte, Wilma Matte Oaks and Yvonne Matte.

He is survived by: his children, Kevin Matte (Wanda) of Church Point, LA, Cynthia Soileau (Steve) of Scott and Belinda Bellard (Darell) of Church Point; and his sister Rita Primeaux of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
