He was predeceased by: his wife Ethel Matte; his daughter Angela Matte Bates; his children-in-law, Stuart Bates, Joey Sonnier and Rita Matte; his great grandchild Thomas Houston; his parents, Thomas Matte and Emalina Matte; and his sisters, Ethel Lee M. Broussard, Gloria Dean M. Andrepont and Diane M. Miller.
He is survived by: his children, Reggie Matte of Cecilia, Janet Sonnier of Branch and Joan (Chuck Arsement) of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Jade M. Pitre, Jeana M. Caldwell, Dawn B. Garbarino, Jessica S. Houston, Jen Alyse S. Moronta, Jacob Sonnier, Bret Bates, Gabe Bates, Victoria Arsement Corrmier and Sophia Arsement; his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Raven, Danu, Luke, Bethany, Ben, Samuel, Kaitlyn, Gabriella, Emmalina, Carson, Leighanna, Niesi of Edwarnis, E. J, Magnolia, Wyatt and Olive; his great great grandchild Lochlan; and his brother Donald James Matte.
