He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Poly McDaniel (Charlie) and Charlie McDaniel; his brother Thomas McDaniel; his wife Sue Lane McDaniel; his children, Jeff McDaniel and Terri Simmons (late Tommy Simmons); his grandchildren, April (Jason Owen), Jamie (Callen Owens), Lacey (Jasen Cooper), Joseph Simmons (Shelby) and Daniel Simmons (Kathrine Upshaw); his great grandchildren, Landrie, Lane Owen, Levi Owens, Tobey, Scarlett and Inman Cooper; and his sisters, Helen Welch and Virginia Andrews. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
