He was predeceased by: his father Lloyd Matte; his siblings, Karen Thibodeaux, David Matte and Robert Matte; and his grandparents, Angelas LeJeune and Mark Matte.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Trahan Matte; his mother Mabel LeJeune Thibodeaux; his children, Maggie Charlie (Travis), Jenah Matte, Jade Leger (April), Austin Matte and Andrew Matte; his siblings, Joyce Prejean (Allen), Nell Briscoe (Mike), Etheal Mire (Marty), Darrell Matte (Linda), Donald Matte (Linda) and Billy Matte; and his grandchildren, Madison Charlie, Emma Charlie and Samuel Charlie. He is also survived by several step brothers and step sisters.
