She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Carter, Sr. and Mary Catherine Desadier Carter. She is survived by: her husband Bruce Nielsen; her children, Doyle Reese Smith, Jr., Rachell Smith and Arlene Smith; and her siblings, Sheree DuBois and Vernon L. Carter, Jr.. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, with one great grandchild.
