He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Augustus "Gus" Townsend and Pearl Durham Townsend; his wife Peggy; his sons, Thomas (Sandra) of Baton Rouge, Byron (Suzannah) and Ralph (M'Lee) of Abita Springs; his granddaughters, Isabelle and Ella Townsend; his stepgrandsons, Alex and Harrison Fruge; his brothers, James Townsend (Ruth) and Carlton Townsend (Fran); and his stepsiblings, Laura Meeker Sanders (Ed), Johnny Meeker (Monica), Don Meeker (Ruth) and Sammy Meeker (Charlene).
