He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Garcia Sauseda; his children, Roy Sauseda, Sr. and Irene Rodriguez; his parents, Severo Sauseda and Gregoria "Rose" Gonzales Sauseda; and his siblings, Antonia Sauseda, Curry Sauseda, Mary Madrigal and Julia Silva.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Sauseda, Jr. of Bunkie, Alfonso Sauseda (Della) of Shreveport, Virginia Madrigal (Robert) of Bayhills, Tina Wyble (Doyle) of Opelousas and Bridget Tassin (James) of Harvey. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
