It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Nell Newton (Bunkie, Louisiana), born in Minden, Louisiana, who passed away on January 4, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Fred Peter Newton; her parents, Alton Bettison and Ophelia Ray Blakewood; and her brother Alton Ray Blakewood. She is survived by: her sons, David A. Newton (William W. Merryman), Robert Blake Newton (Robin) and Douglas W. Newton (Sharon); and her granddaughters, Rebecca K. Newton Descant and Julie A. Newton Spencer (Gary). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the David Haas United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
