He was predeceased by: his wife Essie Louise Rivers; his grandson Zachary Shawn Rivers; his parents, Odus Dee and Edith Foster Rivers; and his siblings, Lena Smyers, Ruby Nabors, Inez Pace, Elsie Benazue, Glenn Rivers and Marshall Rivers.
He is survived by: his children, Andretta Charles Rivers (Geraldine) of Bunkie, Ramona Louise Rivers of Bunkie and Charles Otis Rivers, Jr. of Bunkie; his brothers, Robert Rivers of Bunkie and Billy Floyd Rivers of Mineral Wells, TX; and his grandchildren, Angela Rivers, Jessica Rivers, Adam Rivers and Tamara Boyd. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
