He was predeceased by: his wife Bettye Joyce Tate Britton; his parents, Minnie Belle Fuller Britton and William Arthur Britton; his brother James Fredrick Britton; and his grandchild Page Krauss.
He is survived by: his children, Leah Elizabeth Britton Krauss (Mark), Jeb Stuart Britton (LouAnn), William Brian Britton (Kreisha) and Jane Anne Britton Wilkinson (Joseph); his grandchildren, Hannah Britton (Luke), William Britton, Andrew Britton, Sophia Britton, Grace Britton, Jordan Richards, Zachariah Richards, Michael Krauss, Stephanie Thies and Anna Thies; and his great grandchildren, Emmet Mobley, Olive Young, Eliza Elliott and Emily Hare.
During his time at McNeese State College, he made significant contributions to the McNeese football team.
