He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Mitchell and Lillie Mae Mitchell; his grandparents, Bessie Turner Stewart Howard, Louis Turner, Henry Mitchell and Sarah Toppens Mitchell; his son Malachi Paul Mitchell; and his godmother Bessie Mae T. Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, Demetre Mitchell of Franklin, Louisiana, RaQuel Mitchell of Fort Morgan, Jerusha Hypolite of Jeanerette and Trelles Mitchell Bonnet (Bryan) of Youngsville, Louisiana; and his siblings, Charles Mitchell, Jr. (Margie) of Jeanerette, Louis Mitchell of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gwendolyn Mitchell Babineaux of Franklin, Sheila Oliver (Donald) of Franklin, Charlene Jones and Christine Chattman. He is also survived by three grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.
