He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Boquet Matherne; his son Terry Matherne; his parents, Ernest Matherne and Lellia Matherne; and his siblings, Gustave, Houston Sr., Horace, Johnny Matherne, Lydia Matherne and Rita Folse.
He is survived by: his children, Elson Matherne (Trudy), Kerry Matherne, Debra Boquet (Kent), Pauline Scott, Roxana LeBlanc (Tiger) and Sandy Price (Ivy); and his daughter-in-law Deanna Matherne. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
