She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin E Bennett Sr. and Mourine Harrell Bennett; her husband Kenneth Dawson; her brother-in-law Thomas Smith; and her niece Tracy Smith.

She is survived by: her son Kenneth Dawson II; her siblings, Marvin Bennett Jr. (Nancy), Carol Smith and Linda Meservey; her nieces and nephews, Catherine Snow, Tiffany Smith, Katie Meservey, Samantha Meservey, Jennifer Carusone, Travis Smith and Robert Dawson II; her great-niece Brooke Carusone; her great-nephews, Colt Meservey, Robert Dawson III and Andrew Carusone; her aunt Carolyn Mayton; and her siblings-in-law, Robert Dawson and Joy Dawson.
