It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Royce Clifton Dowdy of Bogalusa, Louisiana, born in Sumrall, Mississippi, who passed away on September 20, 2021, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis C. Dowdy and Ethel Herrin Dowdy; his son David W. Dowdy; his siblings, Eddie Marie Anderson and Glenn L. Dowdy; and his brothers-in-law, Hal Hinote and Jerry Anderson.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Keaton; his children, Karen Pierce (Pat) of Richmond, VA, Ronald Dowdy (Cindy) of Nashville, TN, Judy Soltner (Bob) of Virginia Beach, VA and Mark Dowdy of Chattanooga, TN.; his sister Merle Hinote of Bogalusa, LA; and his sister-in-law Teresa "Maria" McBurney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19, a graveside service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery with Pastor Field Thigpen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be sent to Memorial Baptist Church or Salvation Army (Ida Relief).
