It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ethel Jewel Byrd Vernon of Bogalusa, Louisiana, born in Poplarville, Mississippi, who passed away on October 2, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Terry D. Vernon; her sons, Robert Dewayne Byrd and Terry Duane Byrd; her parents, Robert Lampley and Revie Jordan Byrd Lampley; her stepfather David Lampley; her sisters, Pricilla Lampley and Kimberly Peters (Michael); her mother-in-law Ruth Vernon; her nephew James Mims; and her great-nephew Reginald Byrd.
She is survived by: her daughter Leslie Susan Pittman (Denson, Sr.) of Bogalusa, LA; her stepdaughter Cynthia Conerly (LaRide) of Dallas, TX; her daughter-in-law Jannette Byrd (James "Bird" Harry) of Slidell, LA; her grandchildren, Stanley Wilks (Darieth), Kayla Williams (Lawrence), Denson, Jr. Pittman (Daisy), Deonte Casnave, Justin Casnave, Justice Casnave, LaKesha May, Chuntel Davis, Nakiymbaa Byrd, Whitney Copper (Larry), Lauri Conerly and LaRide Conerly, Jr.; her sisters, Marie Byrd Mims, Revieta Lampley and Iris Robinson (Norman); her aunt Lucy Jordan of Chicago, IL; her brother-in-law Lionel Vernon of Franklinton; and her close friends, Kenisha Williams, Bernie and Christi Brennan. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
