He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Harvey and Viola Rester; his wife Wilda Rester; his sister Johnnie Keaton; his daughters, Viola Rester, Vanessa Gill (Rick) and LeManda "Mandy" Magee (P. J.); his nephews, Jon and Aaron Keaton; his grandchildren, Selena Rester, Sabrina Rester-Hughes of Thomas, Eric Brown, Vivian "Alex" Brown, Lacie Gill, Tiffany Gill, Timothy "Zach" Gill, Bradley Gill, Rosalie Magee and Jaxon Magee; and also Viola Rester. He was also cherished by four great grandchildren.
