He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hughes and Inez Hughes Gee; and his brothers, Joseph Hughes, Jr. and Earl Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Sydney Penton Hughes; his sons, Darryl Hughes (Lisa) and J. Lane Hughes (Mindy); his grandson Justin Hughes; his sons, Katelin Varnado (Reed), Brenton Hughes (Sarah) and Haley Buvens; and his brother L. D. Gee (Tracey). He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
