He was predeceased by: his father Ronald G. Backofen. He is survived by: his mother Maria A. Backofen; his wife Clara Elaine Rance Backofen; his children, Zachary S. Backofen (Melanie) and Laken C. Mathews; his grandchildren, Zachary D. Backofen and Everly J. Backofen; his brothers, Mike C. Backofen (Shannon), James T. Backofen (Francine) and Gregory S. Backofen (Brandy); his nieces and nephews, Jordan Backofen, Jared Backofen, Kyle Backofen (Claire), Morgan Backofen and Megan Backofen-Jones (Noah Jones); and his pet Brees. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins.
