He was predeceased by: his parents, Cloria Breaux Hayes and Henry Hayes, Jr.; and his siblings, Shirley Mac Hayes, Curtis Hayes, Phillip Hayes, Sr., Clarence and Eugene Sherman.
He is survived by: his close friend Caroline Richard; his children, Edward (Cassandra), Gregory (Bertha), Jerome Richard (Melaine) and Denise Richard; his siblings, Steve Hayes, Sr. (Jomary), Royal Hayes (Ann Rita), Joyce Smith, Gloria Landry, Augustine Caine, Genevieve Hayes and Brenda McKinney; his aunts, Agnellia Joseph, Lillie Southall and Sarah Breaux; and his uncle Lloyd Carter, Sr.. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
