We are sad to announce that on December 10, 2024, at the age of 86, Mary Nita Jagneaux Kessinger of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, born in Lawtell, Louisiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Constant Jagneaux and Stella Lavergne Jagneaux; her husband Donovan Kessinger, Sr. (DJ); and her siblings, Linus J. Cortez, II, Berchman Jagneaux, Adler Jagneaux, Bernice Fontenot, Vernice F. Darbonne and Ethel J. Woodson.

She is survived by: her son Donovan J Kessinger, Jr. (Cassandra); her grandchildren, Misty L. Holley (Jeff Holley) and Noah D. Lessard; and her great grandchildren, Isabella Holley and Cecil Holley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nita's name to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“I can’t remember the first time I met Nita, but it was at least 50 years or more ago. Nita used to play Bouree’ with my mother Elsie back then and as I got older they let me play and the rest is history after that. Our numerous trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin, & Marksville! I moved to MS and she still kept me with the group and offered me her kindness, friendship and love to stay at her house when I came to town. Oh, the trips to my home and many other places, Nita will ALWAYS be in my heart! ♥️”
