He was predeceased by: his sister Katrina VanFosson; and his parents, Frances VanFosson and Ralph "Van" VanFosson. He is survived by: his siblings, Marjorie Harral and Ralph "Buddy" VanFosson, Jr.; and his nieces, Ashley Wright, Ryan Wright, Alyse Stevens and Jessica Cloyd.
He collected first-edition murder mysteries and art, and he was easily recognized for his light blue Ford Thunderbird that he nicknamed "Thunderchicken," which he won in a charity raffle.
