He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Rushing and Annie Rushing; and his siblings, Helen Couch, Judy Dampier, Shirley Forest and Leslie "Sonny" Forest.

He is survived by: his children, Marilyn Rushing Brandy and Tim Allen Rushing; his siblings, Aliene Ray (Mike), Pat Langston (Kenneth), Ruby Williamson and Herman Rushing (Earline); his grandchildren, Brandi Dement (TJ) and Andre "Steebo" Brandy; and his great grandchildren, Joy Dement, Audrey Dement and Montana Dement.
